Me First And The Gimme Gimmes Ft Lauderdale 2022 Tickets

MF&TGG formed up in 1995 from a super group of friends from the San Fran music scene, including Spike Slawson of the Swingin’ Utters, Joey Cape and Dave Raun of Lagwagon, and Fat Mike of NOFX/Fat Wreck Chords to play punk versions of some of their favorite songs of yesteryear. There is no genre or artist safe from their treatment, as they hit everyone from Neil Diamond to the Chicks to the Beatles. Even after 9 albums, the band is still going strong, having released a greatest hits album that came out in 2017!

Coming from the backgrounds that they do, you wouldn’t expect anything less than full-on punk covers of your favorite songs, but MF&TGG don’t quite go as hard, maintaining a fun edge to their music, which i think is why they work so well. Each album is focused on a certain timeframe and genre, like 2006’s Love Their Country, which focuses on country and western songs, or Ruin Johnny’s Bar Mitzvah, which is a live album actually recorded at a bar mitzvah, and features songs that would have been staples of the teen pop music of the ’60s through ’80s. To me, though, it never gets better than the initial ripping intro of Hall & Oates’ seminal hit, “Rich Girl”
